By the same principle, the mask of any movie character is made - Freddy Krueger, Frankenstein, etc.

Felt masks

Felt - a very convenient material for the manufacture of the mask. It is easy to cut, comes in a variety of colors.

What masks are made of felt:

  • bat - black or any other color felt is used. The contour is drawn from the wrong side of the material, the blank is cut. Eye holes are cut through, all edges are stitched with a contrasting thread on the sewing machine, stitches are sewn from the sides;
  • dragon - consists of two symmetrical parts of a light green color and one darker top. All parts are glued together or stitched together to create the desired construction. After dragon's nostrils and eyebrows are cut and glued from the black color felt;
  • smiley - using a compass on a paper, a circle is drawn a little more than the face, outlined on a yellow felt. After it, the contours of the eye are glued to it, a smile expressing a certain emotion.

The size of the mask for an adult man will be larger than for a little boy or girl.

Volumetric masks

Bulk designs for the holiday are made a little longer than flat, but the result looks more interesting. For girls fit masks of witches, black cats, bats, mummies, for guys - vampire, depicting horned demons, sorcerers, skulls, etc.

We make a plaster base

To make such a mask, you will need a volunteer who should be laid horizontally, a greasy face cream, paper towels, and glue.

How it's done:

  • the face is thickly applied with cream, special attention is paid to the eyelashes and hairline;
  • paper towels are torn into pieces, soaked with glue, applied to the face, avoiding the nostril openings;
  • after applying several layers, the product is dried with a hair dryer, carefully removed from the face.

Next, a plaster cast is made, it will need:

  • alabaster;
  • water;
  • sand;
  • containers;
  • fat cream;
  • mixer;
  • Scotch.

Gypsum is mixed in a container to a uniform consistency, superimposed on the paper base with a layer of about two centimeters from the inside. Later, the mask will be sculpted on such a plaster base.

Alabaster can be applied directly to the face, protecting the eyes with film linings, inserting tubes into the nostrils. Then the place where he should not get protected with tape or cardboard restraints. If the negative foundation is not too flat, it is lightly polished, after which the positive foundation is poured in, and the previous construction is divided into two halves.

From papier-mache

For the manufacture of papier-mâché masks, a plasticine base is required, less often - the material is applied directly to the face, smeared with fat.

From clay, which will need about a kilogram, fashioned fantasy form, depicting for example, a demon with horns. You will also need water, newsprint and toilet paper, PVA glue, gouache paints of several colors. After construction is pasted over with one or two layers of torn paper moistened with water, on top of it - soaked in glue. Total layers are six to eight, depending on the density of the paper. Larger pieces of thin paper form what is difficult to mold - mimic wrinkles, folds on the face, horns, pointed ears are created. The last layer, for greater rigidity, is made of paper more tightly. It is important not to forget to leave a slit for the eyes, nostrils, mouth. The design is well dried, removed from the base, painted in red and black colors, pasted over with sparkles.

Polymer clay

It is easy to make a skull mask that covers the upper part of the face from white and gray polymer clay. First you need to create a drawing of the desired product. Clay gently applied to the face, smeared with fat or cream, leaving a slit for the eyes, a notch for the nose. The layer is about five millimeters, and the edges of the product are uneven, as if imitating real bones. All contours are carefully drawn with paints, the necessary irregularities, the joints of the "bones" of the skull are drawn with toothpicks or special stacks. The design is fired in the furnace, varnished. On the side of the product is attached a wand-holder, which can be stylized under the arm of a skeleton, also molded from plastic.

Gypsum Bandages

For work you will need:

  • volunteer model;
  • vaseline or cream;
  • scissors;
  • gypsum bandages;
  • paper napkins;
  • PVA glue;
  • various accessories;
  • gouache or acrylic paints.

It will take up to 48 hours to manufacture the structure - it should dry well. The bandage is cut into quadrilateral fragments of small size. The face is smeared with cream, on top of it overlap pieces of napkins are applied, and then - wetted pieces of bandage, arranged in two layers. After 15 minutes, the mask is removed, gently cut through the eyes, mouth, nostrils, following the symmetry of these parts. The contours are trimmed with scissors. The whole construction is pasted over with paper napkins, since the gypsum is capable of causing allergies, and horns, ears, large teeth, patterns of threads or lace are glued to it. After coloring, decoration with sparkles, rhinestones, beads.
Tip: when working with gypsum, you should protect your hair and clothing with a towel, hats, capes.

Painting tape pasted construction of papier-mâché, cardboard, other material. Scotch acts here as an original decor, both as a whole and as cut into fragments of any shape. A pre-painted gypsum product is made up with scotch tape for painting - then, with a second, contrasting layer, cover everything that is not covered with scotch tape. The tools will need sharp scissors or a stationery knife, the dye is applied with a brush or from a spray can.
