Bathroom design in a wooden house

Until recently, in most private village houses there was not even a normal water supply, not to mention a full bathroom. The toilet was on the street, behind barns, washed over a bucket or from a washstand, a small metal bath was gathered exclusively on a summer day, heated by the sun. Times have changed, now the design of a bathroom in a wooden house is not a luxury, but an indicator of comfortable housing, where there is everything you need.

Features of the organization of the bathroom

Modern well-equipped houses have virtually no restrictions on the installation of sanitary equipment of any configuration - it all depends on the owner’s imagination, his material well-being. The latest technology, offering screeds on logs, provide an opportunity to place in the bathroom of a wooden house sanitary ware, various plumbing fixtures, heated floors. The room is veneered with ceramic tiles, less often - with stone, all the pipes are neatly hidden. Technical or design problems, if the work is done correctly, usually do not arise.

The design is carefully thought out - when the sewer pipes, drains are laid correctly, the water will not go where it does not follow, the tree will not dampen, the surfaces will not be deformed. In a comfortable, beautiful interior, every member of the family will feel comfortable. High-quality equipment, suitable materials will help to implement any idea.

It is required to begin work with the device of a waterproofing - convenience, reliability of operation of the equipment of a bathroom depends on it.

Waterproofing premises

High humidity, frequent temperature drops destroy even the hardest wood, giving rise to the development of mold and fungi. Walls, floors require multi-layer, comprehensive protection - in case the pipes are accidentally damaged or one of them turns out to be of poor quality and leakage occurs, then without serious consequences.

The most commonly used methods of waterproofing a bathroom:

  • Okleechny - used rolled materials with bitumen, additional components. These include roofing felt, roofing iron, bituminous glass. They are made of self-adhesive and mounted gas burner. Installation is quite simple, but requires a very flat plane. Further finishing is usually carried out immediately;
  • painting - the most economical, but not too durable, unreliable way. Two or three layers of bituminous varnish are applied to the floors;
  • cast - very durable, effective. The floor is filled with a continuous waterproof layer of a waterproofing compound. Installation is performed using hot or cold material;
  • plastering - a coating in several layers, which is coated on top with two or three layers of polymer solution. The method is very simple, widely used;
  • filling up - filling the floor with crumbly waterproofing material.

When working with plastering, first make the preparatory work - screed floor, surface cleaning, primer. After the mixture is prepared, the dry composition is poured into water, mixed thoroughly, evenly applied over the entire floor with a brush, roller, in some places - with a spatula. Layer should go 2-3 mm. Waterproof tape is glued to the joints of the walls with the floor, then it and the space around it is additionally coated again. The coating is applied twice with an interval of five to seven hours, but only after the previous layer has dried out - when the last is dry, the next finish is made.

When waterproofing is chosen in rolls, the floor is first measured, the corresponding piece of material is cut off. The bitumen base of the rolled material is heated by a torch, the protective coating is removed, glued on a flat surface. To ensure that the layer is securely fixed, it is carefully smoothed with a special roller, the joints are greased with sealants, glued with tape. Then you can finish the floor, walls, install plumbing, etc.

The level of the floor in the bathroom is 2-3 cm lower than in other rooms.

Laying the floor, its features

The floor is made of several layers, its construction is maximally strengthened, especially if the bathroom is located not on the first floor, but above. The strength of the overlap is made sufficient so that the equipment located in the room does not fall down - a standard-sized bath filled with water weighs an average of 150-250 kg.

To begin to distribute the place between the lags. The first layer is a waterproofing film on which a layer of gravel with sand, 17-18 cm thick, is scattered, well tamped. The second layer is expanded clay, it is tamped down, it is poured with concrete, dried. After that, on top of the beams, they install moisture-resistant plywood, 20-50 mm thick, fix it. A waterproofing film material is placed on top, leaving an allowance of 10-20 cm, to protect the corners between the floor and the walls.

Then pour the mixture to screed the floor, after placing the beacons, which are removed after drying. A small bias is made in the direction of the drain or is left, connecting the hole in the floor with the pipe. So that small objects, garbage do not get into the hole, they equip it with a special grate, use cork as a protection against unpleasant smell. The coupler is ground with a machine, covered with a waterproofing compound.

Finishing is done at the request of the owner. This may be tile, thick linoleum, moisture-proof laminate, ceramic granite, wood with special impregnation, etc.

Ventilation of the room

The temperature, humidity in the room directly depends on the correct installation of ventilation. The design is installed at the upper corner of the pipe, displayed through the vent hole to the outside. Often it is connected to the duct so that the flow goes into the pipe located on the roof, for a larger air flow a special fan is mounted. With it, the bathroom space dries quickly. In order for fresh air to flow into the house, a gap is made between the threshold and the door, a height of 12-17 mm.

When the air exchange system is organized incorrectly, condensate forms on the planes, due to which the finish is damaged by fungi, mold, which leads to its irreversible damage.

Arrangement of communication systems

Water supply, sewage in a wooden house, it is desirable to plan for the project stage - special openings are made in the foundation for supplying and draining water through pipes. In the already constructed structure, it is more difficult to do this, since it is necessary to drill the foundation, which sometimes leads to its cracking. Arrangement is carried out in two approaches: first, the structure is mounted in the ground, where pipes enter the building, and when the draft screed is poured, everything that is required in the bathroom is arranged, with an inlet to each appliance.

On the draft floor, pipes are kept so that they are not visible, but they have served for a long time. To do this, gouged holes in the walls. Installation of sewage is made under the "right" slope, gather risers, and then the rest of the parts. The device of radiators, underfloor heating, plumbing is done when all sewer pipes are laid along the required paths. Sometimes the heating pipes, water supply are stacked around the perimeter of the walls, closing with decorative boxes.

When the pipes cannot be stretched to the desired point due to the small thickness of the screeds, the plumbing fixture is shifted to a more convenient place.

Materials for walls

For the walls in the house of logs, laminated veneer lumber, usually use ceramic tiles that mimic natural wood, plastic panels, wall paneling. They are impregnated with special compounds that prevent swelling, molding, fungus development. Materials sometimes combine with each other. It is also important to organize waterproofing the bottom of the walls, to a height of 20-25 cm.

Wood trim is most acceptable for the house of logs, lumber. Often used:

  • oak;
  • beech;
  • ash;
  • elm;
  • nut;
  • teak;
  • larch;
  • cedar;
  • corkwood.

The waterproof coating of wooden surfaces should be renewed every 2-3 years.

Ceiling decoration

Waterproofing is also important here. The ceiling is usually made out of wood materials, waterproof plasterboard - this allows you to maximize it. Less often they paint in light colors or make it stretch. Sometimes mirror ceilings are mounted, but caring for them is a lot of trouble. When lining the ceiling with clapboard, lathing is made on which the slats are fastened - this creates additional ventilation. If the material is laid diagonally, it will visually expand the space.

The ceiling should be a few tones lighter than the floor, but when decorating with wood, it is allowed to coincide with the color of the walls.

Wiring, lighting

Lighting in the bathroom is made using a central ceiling lamp, local - over each sanitary fixture, mirror. All of them can be made inline. You also need at least one outlet to turn on the washing machine, hair dryer, electric shaver.

When installing electrical wiring, some rules are followed:

  • for laying wires using corrugated tubes;
  • twisting, junction boxes, connections in the room are prohibited - only whole wires are allowed;
  • switches, sockets set at least 70-80 cm from the water source, 85-95 cm from the floor level;
  • wires to sockets, fans, switches are held separately;
  • Only electrical appliances with a high water protection class are used.

Sockets are equipped with special covers, the mirror is sometimes used special - make-up room, with LEDs around the perimeter.

If the window faces south, saturated, cold shades are chosen; to the north - exceptionally warm, bright. It is preferable to make the floors darker than the walls in order to create the impression of a stable support for the legs, furniture, and plumbing; the ceiling is the lightest.

It looks good bath installed in the center, which is possible only in very spacious rooms, with a reinforced floor design. In the case of ordinary flooring, all plumbing is mounted along the walls.

If space permits, a large sink is preferred. For a family of more than three or four people make two sinks. The bath itself is sometimes made of cedar wood, larch with a special impregnation. A Jacuzzi is installed in large rooms, and a smaller one with a shower stall with or without a shower tray. For very small rooms, a shorter bathtub, a corner sink, and a hanging toilet will do. When arranging the shower stall, care should be taken to ensure that water does not stand on the floor, does not spread throughout the room.
