Tree in the interior - 50 ideas of decor

I think few people will deny the truth that talking about a tree in the interior is akin to talking about snow in Antarctica, or rocks in the Himalayas. The theme is also immense and inexhaustible. However, with all its boundlessness, it is possible to derive certain rules and patterns that will help to use this material in the interior of the home as efficiently and effectively as possible.

A bit of background

From time immemorial the tree was used by people for the construction, as well as for the internal and external decoration of their home. More versatile material for these purposes is hard to come up with.

Durability, ease of processing, beauty of texture, durability (especially of hard wood) are the most important qualities of wood. But even more, its value is to create a feeling of comfort, an atmosphere of soft warmth and tenderness, and peace of mind.

Wooden products can fit into any interior. Not a single architectural style, not a single design school is able to abandon this material.

Traditional use

Usually, exclusively, wooden in the room were windows, doors, floors and windows. Now, in connection with the appearance of a large number of new building, finishing and decorative materials, the tree has slightly lost its position.

The main reason for this is purely financial, however, I doubt that a person with a developed sense of taste and style would prefer metal-plastic windows to wooden ones. Especially, if the first imitate the second.

The same problem applies to the sexes. Plastic coatings are not currently considered. If the owner of a house or apartment has sufficient financial resources, then in the case of installing glass or ceramic floors (if this does not apply to the kitchen and bathroom), he will have to attend to the heating of these floors from below, which is a costly thing.

Floors need to be covered with carpets, hides of exotic animals, mats, or any other materials that protect the feet from glass not heated by the sun, since the glaze of ceramic tiles is nothing but glass.

This is where the floor of natural wood shows its advantage - it does not need any heating.

Furniture

In modern apartments, furniture plays a huge role in shaping the style of the internal space of the home. Especially if it is a good-quality, high-quality furniture made of precious wood.

Furniture, all of these cabinets, dressers, tables, chairs, sofas and armchairs, especially if they are designed in the same style, will shape the character of the rest of the decor.

The exact opposite of this is the subordination of all the addends of the interior to the designer’s common idea. In this case, furniture, decorative elements, the overall color scheme - all this becomes the embodiment of a single concept. Here you can safely play with color combinations, textures of space.

Modern furniture can be surprisingly diverse. It is also made from such cheap species as pine, or alder (for example, country style), up to such valuable ones as oak, golden ash, and mahogany.

The color palette is also impressive - from white golden ash wood to black ebony. The texture of the surface can be changed from roughly-treated, almost rough, to polished, almost mirror-like.

Beams

Extremely impressive wood looks like ceiling beams. Depending on the shape, size and location, they can significantly influence the creation of a kind of visual rhythm, along with a certain spatial division of the room.

Very much depends on the color of the beams. Thick, far apart beams can be dark, almost black, the color of a bog oak.

In contrast to the white ceiling and, preferably, white walls, this will create the feeling of a solid old building with a rich history. In contrast, not too thick beams, the color of birch or beech, can be placed more tightly

In cottages, in country houses and hunting houses, beams may already be not imitations, but full-fledged elements of the supporting structure, along with wooden columns and rafters. Here we have the classic unity of artistic expression with functionality.

Cuts

Potentially, an extremely rich artistic element is the end saw cut of a round timber. These dies of different diameters, mounted on a wall or partition, create a magnificent decorative effect.

The cuts imitate a woodpile well, which fits perfectly into the kitchen interior, or the living room with a fireplace. In this case, in addition to round, it is desirable to use, also, semicircular and quarter dies. This will tighten the fit of the cuts to each other, reduce voids and give even greater resemblance to the woodpile.

A separate category are saw cuts large diameter. As a rule, they are used in the manufacture of countertops, wall panels of non-standard type. As tabletops, a very thick unedged board can also be used.

A special case of saw cut can be considered a stump. It can be used as a stand for the tabletop, preferably glass, so that all the smoothness and whimsicalness of the tree trunk lines are visible, as well as the coffee table itself, or the bedside table, if the diameter permits.

Wall decoration

With the help of a tree, the walls of a room can be decorated in many ways. About face saws already mentioned above.

It can be added to this that the dies can be made from a square or rectangular cross-section bar of various thickness. The panels, recruited from such cuts perfectly perceived visually.

This may be a vertical inset from floor to ceiling, a diagonal, wavy strip. You can type from these dies a stylized drawing of a tree in the whole wall. Options can be listed for a very long time. The main thing is to find an option for a particular case.

The walls are also decorated with slats of various thicknesses. You can use boards. Grooved, connected in length, form a continuous flat surface. They can be revetted, or, as carpenters put it, “sew up” both a separate wall, and completely the whole room.

The latter, for example, is practiced in the design of hunting lodges.
To create an interior under the tree are also used wallpaper from natural cork and natural veneer. A natural prerequisite for their use is, of course, the maximum flatness of the walls.

Additional wooden elements of decor

Earlier it was already mentioned the use of stumps as expressive plastic objects in the decoration of the home.

But, as they say, we will not unite. To give the interior some kind of zest, aesthetic accent, you can use many other, not very large-scale, but extremely expressive means. They can be a bizarre snag on the coffee table, or the root of an old tree on a mantel.

The whimsically curved tree branch attached to the wall can replace the whole panel.
Any wooden trinket can be an artistic accent, the aesthetic nerve of the entire modern indoor space. Perhaps it will be an original figurine, a birch burl vase, or bast tuesok.

This role can play a set of wooden utensils, an exotic mask on the wall, candlesticks, or chess with figures of light and dark wood. There are no obstacles to the flight of fancy.

About trees in a modern interior

Separately, it should be said about the tree not as a material, but as a plant. Put it in the interior in two ways. The first way — if space permits — is to set up tubs in the room with lively small, shade-loving trees planted in them.

Also, instead of a living tree, you can install a dry, larger size, with a partially sawed crown. The tree should reach the ceiling, and cut branches create the effect of germination through the ceiling.

The second way is to depict a tree using artistic means. It can be painted on the wall, cut from hardboard, make a wall mosaic with the help of sea pebbles, ceramics, dies, bars and slats.

Particularly grateful fans of painted walls - of course, children. It is in the children's rooms that trees are usually drawn. The manner of painting can be completely arbitrary - from strict naturalism to the most arbitrary stylization.

The main thing is a skillful combination of colors, creating an atmosphere of fabulousness that fills the nursery. The crown of a tree, for example, can be above the wall, fill a part of the ceiling, swim among the fluffy clouds. The barrel and stylized branches give the composition a volume. In addition, it will now be something to hang your favorite toys and fasten the most successful drawings.

A bit of style

Wood is an amazing natural product. To any design artist, whether expert or amateur, it opens a horizon of endless possibilities.

The tree forgives the roughest design mistakes; it is combined, practically, with any materials, playing either on similarities or on the sharp opposition of their properties.

It can be easily cut (if it is not a bog oak), it is easy to tint and paint, modern impregnations allow using it even in bathrooms! It, along with the stone, is the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of the modern designer. However, this can be said about the designers of two thousand years ago.

Both wood and stone are very expressive materials. Therefore, when working with them, you should always use the alternation method: light - with dark, warm - with cold, rough - with smooth.

To select, or, as the artists say, “pull out” one or another element, it should be placed either in neutral (white plaster) or in a contrasting medium. For example, a meter-wide log of wood looks great on a light, monophonic background of a wall.

Here, in fact, a small number of techniques to help create a satisfactory design of the home.
