The essence of minimalism style can not be more fully reflected in its name: at least too much! This allows you to leave free the maximum possible space for living and creativity, to make even small rooms voluminous.

The minimalism style was born from a combination of two styles that were born in the twenties and thirties of the last century. One of them is constructivism, the characteristic signs of which are clear lines, concise, strict forms and a ban on decorative “excesses”.
The second is functionalism, which is characterized by the use of large, monolithic planes of the same color and texture, the absence of decor, ornament, expediency and functionality of the objects used in the interiors.

The following main elements of modern living rooms in the style of minimalism can be distinguished:
- The maximum possible expansion of space. For this purpose, extra partitions are usually removed, the studio layout is preferable. Small rooms are combined, interior doors are replaced with portals or arches, they increase the size of window and door openings, and also combine all these methods in order to achieve a feeling of freedom and airiness. - Restrictions in the decor. Since the basic concept of style is “nothing superfluous,” there can not be many pieces of furniture, and it is better if they fulfill several functions at once.

At the same time, you should not be afraid of losing “closed zones”; for their organization, you will not need to make wardrobes-partitions or massive shelving - just place light portable screens in the right places, or separate zones using movable partitions. However, no one says that you need to completely abandon any decorative elements. A pair of graceful statuettes, a few photos on the walls, paintings in the style of futurism or photos of laconic landscapes - all this will give the situation individuality, warmth and create a feeling of home comfort.
